The High Court in Accra has found two Ghana Football Association (GFA) executives guilty of contempt of court.
Prosper Harrison Addo, the association’s General Secretary, and Sheikh Tophic Abdul-Kadir Sienu, a Division One League Board Member, were fined Gh¢24,000 and sentenced to one day in prison, respectively.
Addo was found guilty for statements made during personal interviews, while Sienu was found guilty for remarks made on Facebook.
Ashanti Gold FC filed a petition against GFA Executive Council Members for launching the 2022/2023 Premier League notwithstanding an interlocutory injunction.

The court ruled that because the GFA President, Kurt Okraku, and the 12 members of the Executive Council were not served with the Injunction order, they were not in contempt of court.
According to the GFA, Addo and Sienu did not serve their prison sentences because they paid their penalties before the presiding judge adjourned for the day.
