The Tarkwa District Court One has sentenced a 28-year-old woman, Gifty Awuah, to two months of imprisonment with hard labor for stealing GH¢1,200 in cash and a mobile phone valued at GH¢1,100.
Awuah, who resides in Dompim Pepesa within the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality, pleaded guilty to the charges and was convicted on her own plea by the court presided over by Mr. Charles Owusu Nsiah.
Incident Details
According to the prosecution, led by Police Sergeant Enoch Assan-Donkoh, the incident occurred on November 9, 2024.
The complainant, Elizabeth Badu, who is also unemployed and lives in Wassa Agona, was at home when Awuah arrived, seeking to meet Badu’s husband, Nana Nkansah.
After being informed that her husband was not available, Awuah pretended to leave but quickly returned to enter the complainant’s room.
She stole the money and the mobile phone before fleeing the scene.
Arrest and Confession
The theft was reported to the police, and two days later, on November 11, 2024, Awuah was apprehended.

During police investigations, she admitted to the crime in her caution statement.
