The Cape Coast Metropolitan Security Council (MESTEC) says it is ready to curb noise pollution in the Metropolis.
According to the Security Council, the level of noise being made by some groups and individuals in the Metropolis is sometimes worrying thus, the need to introduce strict measures that will help to reduce the noise making.
Chairperson for the Security Council and also the Chief Executive for the Cape Coast Metropolitan Area, Mr. Ernest Arthur, at a press conference hinted that, “aside the sand winning that we will be emphasizing on we are also going to deal with the noise making in the Metropolis. Measures will be put in place to control activities in the night and even sometimes during the day depending on the area whether commercial or residential.”

“If you are engaged in any activity where you have to use sound whether by electronic means or any manual means, please be advised that very soon we are going to embark on” the operation to reduce noise making, he stressed.
He further expressed displeasure concerning the unauthorized driving of convoys in the Metropolis stating that it is inappropriate and thus the Security Council will soon ensure it becomes a thing of the past.
“We also want to bring to the attention of the people of Cape Coast that all those young men who you see in town in unauthorized convoys should please be advised because it is also going to be part of our operations and we will want to put a total stop to that,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mr. Ernest Arthur revealed that another area the Security Council will be looking at are the uncustomed vehicles in town.
According to him, the Council together with the GRA and the customs division at the DVLA are working closely to come up with another operation to deal with that.
