Voichestra Ghana has held this year’s edition of its annual Hallelujah Concert with a call on choral music lovers to help ensure the survival of choral music in the country.

Speaking to ATL FM NEWS after the concert on Sunday, December 4, 2022, the Chief Servant to the Choir, Papa Kwaku Crenstil lamented how choral music is struggling in Ghana because of inadequate sponsorship.

According to him, choral music is capital intensive and because people have not yet grasped the concept of choral music and its importance to society, seeking sponsorship is quite hectic.

He thus appealed to the general public especially those who appreciate and have a passion for choral music to help provide choirs who are into choral music with the needed support to ensure their sustenance.

“We will plead with anyone who has the interest; especially in Cape Coast, it’s really difficult. Just ordinary choirs are doing well in Accra, Kumasi among others but extremely good choirs are struggling here just because of sponsorship and support. So plead with people who would be touched by this to come to our aid.” He said.

Meanwhile, he added that it in order to increase the passion people have for this kind of musical genre, the group will intensify its school visitations and reach out to Churches and the public in order to sell the concept of choral music to them.

Voichestra Ghana is an interdenominational choral group based in Cape Coast. The choir was established in 2016 with the aim of giving back to Ghanaian society and the world at large through music.

They partner with Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and Philanthropic Foundations to help the less privileged and the physically challenged.

This year’s Hallelujah Concert was on the theme, “Praise the Lord with a joyful heart.” At the event, Voichestra Ghana and its Sister Choir, the University Interdenominational Church Choir at the University of Cape Coast led attendees to give thanks to God for his sustenance throughout the year.
