Unknown assailants set fire to the truck carrying three chiefs from Ellembelle and their driver.
Nana Anokyi IV, Chief of Anokyi, Nana Akpanye Armo II, Chief of Awiaso, and Nana Blaychie, Chief of Ekpu in the Western Region’s Ellembelle District are the chiefs.
They were believed to be returning to their homes after witnessing the successful installation of Nana Amenkyi Fabin V, the new chief of Agyambra.
Kwame Mensah, the driver of the car with registration number GR 2304-12, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that a road barrier had been installed around the rubber plantation at Agyambra en route Nyamebekyere, popularly known as Route 32.

He stated that when he arrived at that area of the road, he stopped and alighted from the car, but to his astonishment, five guys emerged from the bush, one having a gallon of petrol, and poured it on the vehicle, setting it ablaze.
He said that the guys were members of another party in the town that also claimed the throne.
According to the driver, the fire started scorching the vehicle, but they were able to escape.
Nana Anokyi, for his part, stated that he escaped through the rubber plantation and eventually arrived to the 32 Customs Duane barrier in Nyamebekyere, where he alerted the on-duty police about the incident.
He stated that the driver, who had suffered serious burns, was sent to the St. Martin De Porres Hospital in Eikwe, Ellembelle District, for treatment.
Meanwhile, DSP Valentine Akposu, the Ahanta-West Municipal Police Commander, informed the GNA that the Command has initiated a probe into the situation.
He did not, however, elaborate on the matter.
