The Senior Staff Association of the University of Cape Coast, the Management of the University of Cape Coast, the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) and the government are expected to report to the National Labour Commission on Friday, May 20, 2022 to find solutions to the grievances of the Senior Staff Association of the University.
This follows a letter from the NLC, dated, Monday 16, 2022, inviting all parties connected to the issues raised by the aggrieved members of the Senior Staff Association for negotiations.
In a statement signed by the Chairman of the Association, Sandy Kumi-Sinatra, the Association threatened to embark on a strike to demand payment of certain allowances due them and the delay in promoting their colleagues.
The Association stressed that it will embark on a strike action by Thursday, May 19, 2022 if the University Management failed to address their grievances.

However, on ATL FM’s ATLANTIC WAVE on Tuesday 17th May, the Chairperson of the Association, Sandy Kumi-Sinatra while expressing sadness over Management’s stance on what qualifies some of the association’s members to be promoted in the university, he noted his outfit is ready for further negotiations.
He stated, “ for the appointment GTEC has told us that all that they need is master’s degree but for the universities they are limiting it to research based masters, MBA and M.com which is 2 years and we think it is not in the best interest of us because most of our people are having are having M.A which is also masters and could be considered because elsewhere they are being considered……..but management is saying that GTEC does not determine how they will promote their people so we are looking forward to meet them.”
