In a remarkable demonstration of leadership and commitment, the President of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Abraham Norman Nortey, has successfully delivered on his campaign promise to provide students with a 10GB data bundle.

This initiative is designed to supplement the university’s existing WiFi network, ensuring students have reliable connectivity to support their academic activities, including research, assignments, and virtual learning.

Beyond merely fulfilling his pledge, Norman has exceeded expectations. While his initial campaign promise included 10GB of data, 250 minutes of call time, and 50 SMS, he has gone further by providing 10GB of data, 500 minutes of call time, comprising 400 minutes for closed user group (CUG) calls and 100 minutes for other MTN numbers—and 200 SMS. His ability to expand the scope of this initiative underscores his dedication to student welfare and his commitment to making a tangible impact.
A Transformational Leadership Approach
Norman’s leadership has quickly distinguished itself through swift and effective action. In just three months since assuming office, he has introduced a series of student-centered initiatives that have had a meaningful impact on campus life. Despite his relatively short tenure, his administration has demonstrated competence, transparency, and a strong commitment to fulfilling promises.

When he took office in December 2024, Norman assured students that the 10GB data package would be implemented by March 2025. Staying true to his word, he successfully delivered on this promise on March 20, 2025, reinforcing his reputation as a leader who prioritizes execution over rhetoric. His ability to meet deadlines with precision highlights both his credibility and his effectiveness in office.
