The Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (IEPA), UNESCO Category II Centre of Excellence for West Africa, UCC has organized the 6th edition of the Student Research and Innovation for graduate students.
The programme offers graduate students the platform to showcase their research findings and creativity to the university community.
Speaking on behalf of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong, the Provost of the College of Agricultural and Natural Sciences (CANS), Prof. Moses Jojo Eghan intimated that the Students’ Expo Represents a Significant Milestone in ongoing efforts to nurture academic excellence among students.
According to him, the student’s research findings will translate into policies and practical applications for tangible commitment in communities.

He said “By presenting their work, students do not only demonstrate their skills but contribute meaningfully to addressing real-world challenges. He said that their projects offer fresh perspectives and innovative solutions, reflecting a spirit of inquiry, and a quest, for impactful change,” he said.
The 2024 Students Expo saw faculty members, industry experts, policymakers, and students present insightful research findings, recommendations, and innovations on various topics bordering the educational system in Ghana.
It was held on the theme: Shaping the Future through Innovative Educational Research.
Prof Eghan explained that the theme perfectly encapsulates the collective ambition to drive progress, through pioneering research, in educational excellence.
“The Students Expo has become a cornerstone of our mission, to bridge the gap, between theoretical knowledge, and practical application.”
A master of Philosophy student at IEPA, Miss Sarah Antwi who presented on the topic: The Use of Artificial Intelligence among Post-graduate students at UCC, called on the university to put measures in place to facilitate understanding and proper usage of Artificial Intelligence (AI) among students.
She indicated that during her research, she realized students use some apps they were unaware were AI apps hence, she recommended that the University collaborates with relevant authorities to develop AI ethical policies.
“I also recommend that they do some training and the management should also build infrastructures relating to AI to help the students learn more and develop the right AI skills.”
Meanwhile, the Director-General at IEPA, Dr. Michael Boakye-Yiadom admonished the other colleges of UCC and other universities in Ghana to get students deeply involved in their research works.
