The Directorate of University Health Services at the University of Cape Coast has recognized some of its staff that distinguished themselves at the various units and departments of the Hospital for the years 2019, 2020, and 2021.
The awards ceremony was also used to mark the achievements of staff after coping with the global pandemic.
The awardees received plaques, certificates of recognition, hampers with the overall best, taking home a television set.
Ms. Diana Atitsogbey won the overall best staff for the year 2019 owing to her dedication to duty and commitment to the development of the hospital while Dr. James Kojo Prah was adjudged the best medical officer.
Speaking at the ceremony, the chairperson of the Health Services Committee, Prof. Dora Francisca Edu-Buandoh described all staff as winners.
She however urged the staff to put in more efforts to make the hospital a symbol of health Institutions among the tertiary health Institutions in Ghana, adding that she expects them to put in more efforts in the coming years.
According to the Director of the University Health Services, Dr. Evans Ekanem, the reward system was introduced in 2019 to celebrate staff for their dedicated services and also honour those that have distinguished themselves at the various units and departments of the hospital but due to some challenges, it was postponed.
He said the awards were one of the surest ways to motivate staff to give off their best in taking care of the hospital’s clients.
Dr. Ekanem further lauded the commitment of the Health Services Committee led by prof. Dora Edu-Buandoh, out-gone Pro-Vice-Chancellor, noting that her leadership has attracted developmental projects to the hospital.
Awardees included Maxwell Kwame Lewis, Best Administrative Assistant, Peter Kwame Egyir, Best Pharmacy Staff, Aaron Rudolf Arthur, Best Laboratory Staff, and Bernard Bright Crentsil, best Accounts Staff.
Others also included Ms. Celestine Obeng, Best Ward Assistant, and the 2020 award of excellence was also given to Ms. Esther Cobbinah.
A special plaque was given to prof. Dora Edu-Buandoh for her contribution, zeal, and selfless services rendered to the hospital during her term of office as the chairperson of the Health Services Committee.
