The University of Cape Coast (UCC) has held a hybrid matriculation ceremony for fresh students who have been admitted to various programmes of study.
The hybrid Matriculation, which had fresh students having the ceremony in their various Halls of Residence (virtual) and some at New Examination Centre, saw 7,164 being admitted into various programmes of study.
Speaking at the matriculation ceremony to usher in fresh students to the University of Cape Coast for the 2021/2022 academic year, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong said a total of 16, 401 applications were received by the University of Cape Coast from prospective applicants in respect of regular undergraduate programmes and 1, 636 for programmes at the post-graduate level.
He notes that, out of the cumulative application of 18,037, only 11, 218 were offered admission with 7,164 enrolling.
“6, 318 students were admitted into undergraduate programmes while 846 were taken to study courses at the post-graduate level,” he revealed.
Standards
“The global recognition of the high standards the university of Cape Coast has set for itself enjoins all freshmen and women to live up to the core values of the university namely, academic excellence, empowerment, equality, and ethical behavior,” he added.
SECURITY
The Vice-Chancellor stated that whiles security personnel have been deployed to ensure security on campus, students are to be conscious and take responsibility for their own safety as well.

HEALTHCARE
Although the University is concerned about the academic and social life of students, Prof. Boampong indicated that the University has put in place measures to ensure that students live a healthy and productive life.
He said “the university operates students’ clinics at the north campus in addition to the main hospital at the south campus. We advise that you should not hesitate to call at the clinic any time there is the need.”
RULES AND REGULATIONS
He urged all students to follow all the rules and regulations of the University, especially the ones outlined in the students’ handbook, academic programs policies and programs for undergraduates and for post-graduate studies.
He stated “we as an institution committed to helping you achieve your dream. Do your part by studying hard and adhering to the rules outlined in these books as well as other rules existing in the university.
