The Directorate of Finance Welfare Association (DoFWA) at the University of Cape Coast has launched its 30th Anniversary Celebration with a call on its members to exhibit high standards of accountability and good governance in their line of duty.
Director of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance, Professor Daniel Agyapong, notes that accountability and governance are key to propel the association into greater progress and development and sustain its continuous existence.
In a keynote address to launch the anniversary, Prof. Agyapong maintained the need for members of DoFWA to reinforce their commitment to transparent financial practices, sound governance chart, and accountability at all levels.
Speaking on the theme for the 30th Anniversary: Sustaining Our Integrity and Objectivity in Unity, he said integral to their commitment to integrity and objectivity as the custodian of finances is the principle of accountability and good governance.
Prof Daniel Agyapong indicated that the 30-year anniversary celebration should not only be a milestone but also serve as a turning point in the Association’s collective financial commitment.
He urged the members of DoFWA to be more innovative to help the continuous survival of the association and to deepen its roles to the university and the nation as a whole.
“I challenge each of you to embrace innovation in your role, exploring new technologies and seeking creative solutions to the challenges of the association,” he continued.
The special Guest for the 30th Anniversary launch, Professor Francisc Dora Edu-Buandoh urged members of the association to maintain the principle of integrity in the discharge of their financial duties while also fostering unity and collaboration.
She said the more experienced members must invest and support young members of the association to rise in their personal and professional development.
Activities outlined for the Association’s 30th Anniversary celebration include a cooking competition, health walk, seminar, eye screening, excursion and a durbar, among others.
