The festive spirit was in full swing at the University of Cape Coast on December 21, where the traditional festival of nine lessons and carols was held, marking the start of the Christmas celebrations for staff and students.
UCC Mass Choir and Voices of Accountability were among the choirs that set the tone for the event, delivering a rich mix of Christmas carols and choral pieces that enchanted those in attendance.
The service turned into a grand display of joy and thanksgiving, with the audience moved to sing and dance, offering praises for the blessings received throughout the year.
The nine scripture readings, which retold the story of Christ’s birth, were presented by various campus leaders, including Mr. Jeff Teye Onyame, the registrar, Dr. (Mrs). Joana Eva Dodoo, a Lecturer with the Department of Business Programmes at the College of Distance Education (CoDE), Dr. Patrick Quampah, an Assistant Registrar at the Chaplaincy Section and Rev. Fr. Mark Kwnin.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong in a message expressed his heartfelt thanks to the university community for their unwavering commitment over the past year.
He also reflected on the angel’s message, expressing gratitude for the glad tidings.
Prof Johnson Nyarko Boampong took a moment to remind everyone of the divine grace that has been evident throughout the year, despite any unfulfilled prayers.
“I want to also use this opportunity to thank the entire staff and members of the university community for your hard work and dedication to duties during the year. It is my prayer that we will all return in good health in the new year and continue to build our dear university with new strength and commitment,” he continued.
