The Director of the African Centre of Excellence in Coastal Resilience, Professor Denis Aheto speaking to ATL FM NEWS at the sidelines during the workshop, explained that the workshop is one of the deliverables under the ACECoR project.
He adds that the curricula being developed would be piloted within the context of ACECoR adding that “however, we are extending that to strengthen the efforts of an incubation hub which is already operating within CESED so that the pilot project we are seeking to do through ACECoR can be upscaled to the level of the entire University through CESED.”
The ACECoR Project is a project supported by the World Bank within the Centre for Coastal Management which is also a University led effort where significant numbers of young African professionals are being trained at both the Masters’ and PhD levels in the areas of Coastal and Marine ecosystem science, Fishery science, Coastal engineering, Blue economy, Governance and Social Resilience and other climate change related issues.
Professor Aheto notes that CCM-ACECoR and CESED aim to develop a demand driven curricula following the workshop held.
