About Wednesday’s demonstration
Thousands of Ghanaians took part in the widely publicized #FixTheCountry demonstration on Wednesday, August 4, 2021.
The protesters requested a new constitution as well as measures to solve the numerous problems that ordinary Ghanaians face.
The demonstrators held banners that said, among other things, “#FixOurEducationSystemNow,” “A new constitution immediately,” “Justice for Kaaka,” and “If Ghana were your personal property, would you manage it like this?”
The purpose of the well-attended demonstration was to put pressure on Ghana’s government to solve the country’s many problems, including young unemployment, inadequate infrastructure, and high living costs.
The public demonstration comes after many weeks of social media mobilization, which was almost halted by a court battle.
