The Chief Executive Officer of Minerals Commission, Mr. Martin Ayisi says the commission is committed to effectively managing the mineral resources for the growth of the country.
Speaking at a press briefing Tuesday, Mr. Ayisi explained that his office is working tirelessly to ensure that the country acquires the necessary benefits from natural resources, especially in the Gold mining sector.
He highlighted some significant progress the commission in collaboration with the Lands and Natural Resources Ministry has made in their operations to efficiently utilize Ghana’s natural resources and said, paper-based applications, for example, have been abolished and as such his office no longer deals with paper work.
He added saying “. We are also upgrading our infrastructure to meet the digitization process. Am happy to announce that practically all our regional and district offices have been connected online…if there is a disaster and there is a shutdown, we can work 24/7 from our homes, that is minerals commission”
Mr. Ayisi further said “we are digitizing all our records, I have recruited as many as 50 national service personnel to digitize the fine details of all the mineral rights, and by the close of the year, everything will be fully digitized. But what we have done so far is enough for us to process applications online.”
According to him, this progress chalked by the commission has been achieved within the last 8 months.

Mr. Ayisi however outlined factors such as illegal mining, smuggling of gold, illegal sand winning among others as major challenges that the commission is confronted with despite their successes.
He said his office is working with the security to make sure the last person on these illegal activities is flushed out to ensure such challenges are curtailed.
