Charles Nii Armah Mensah, better known as Shatta Wale, is scheduled to appear in court later today, Thursday, October 21, 2021.
He faces accusations of spreading false information and causing fear and panic, which may result in a caution, a fine, or a three-year prison sentence if he is proven guilty.
The musician has already spent two nights in police custody after his arrest on Tuesday after the police stated that they were searching for him due to his participation in the dissemination of false information that he had been shot in Accra’s East Legon.
Two of his management team members, Eric Venator and Kojo Owusu Koranteng, had been arrested and imprisoned prior to his detention.
In addition, the two will appear in court.
Prior to his arrest on Tuesday, Shatta Wale apologized to his followers and those impacted by the hoax in a Facebook post.
He referred to Bishop Stephen Kwesi Appiah of New Life Kingdom Chapel’s prophesy that he will be shot on October 18, 2021.
Bishop Stephen Kwesi Appiah, also known as ‘Jesus Ahoufe,’ of New Life Kingdom Chapel, who is in police custody, will be rearraigned today, Thursday, after a judge refused bail on his initial court appearance on Wednesday.
Bishop Stephen Kwesi Appiah is also charged with instilling fear and panic.
