Following the growing prices of food supplies, the National School Feeding Caterers Association is asking an increase in school feeding funds.
According to caterers, food prices have risen several times, but the government continues to pay 97 pesewas per plate, making it incredibly difficult for them to continue cooking for kids and students at various schools.
At a press conference in Accra, Adizetu Amanuah Ankrah, Public Relations Officer for the National School Feeding Caterers Association, urged President Akufo-Addo to direct the proper authorities to address their issues quickly.
She also criticized the lack of communication on the subject.

“Are we going to get the increment or not? Or they are on it? We want to know. We want them to tell us something. They should come out and tell us something.”
Adizetu Amanuah Ankrah, on the other hand, stated that they anticipate a positive response from the administration.
“That [there won’t be any increment] is what we don’t want to hear. So we are pleading with Nana Akufo-Addo to come to our aid. He is our father,” she said.
The Ghana School Feeding Programme is a component of the Africa Agricultural Development Programme Pillar 3.
It aims to improve food security and reduce hunger in accordance with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (MDGs) for hunger, poverty, and malnutrition.
