A security analyst, Rev Joojo Gyebi Gharbrah is urging the Ghana police service to debunk the report of the Ghana statistical service ranking the Police service as the most corrupt institution to rediscover its true self.

He says that as a security institution it is important always to maintain their image and the confidence Ghanaians have in them.

Rev. Joojo added that the Police must analyze the report and tackle it internally to know where they fall shorts as an institution to correct the misconceptions Ghanaians have of them.

Speaking on the ATLANTIC WAVE, Rev Joojo Gyebi Gharbrah said, the police should rather see the report as a warning which also derogates the image of the police service.

“Get the report, study it and of course, the police service can’t be a hundred percent sacrosanct so for instance, this is where we fall short, this is where we are doing very well, this is where we are not doing very well; so let’s tackle the negative side and try to get inside to show the public that the perception they have about us is not correct but this is who we really are.”

He encouraged the police to conduct an internal cleanup to know their shortcomings and find solutions.

To him, when government institutions like the police start to banter with another state institution, it doesn’t sit well and as such, efforts must be made to regain confidence in Ghanaians.

Rev Joojo, also encouraged the police to have a second look at their operations and mode of recruitment as a way to regain their trust.

He however added that Ghanaians must also eschew the mistaken belief that the police are corrupt.
