Alhaji Dr. Murtala Mohammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, and Alhaji Muniru Limuna Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, the two Muslims among the 8 heroes who perished in the Z-9 military Helicopter Crash were laid to rest on Sunday August 10, 2025.
The forensic analysis of their samples sent out to South Africa on Thursday, August 7, arrived back in Accra on Saturday, August 9, 2025, while that of the 6 remaining samples arrived in Accra on Sunday, August 10, 2025.
This paved way for the final Janazah (Islamic funeral) prayer to be held on Sunday, August 10, 2025 in accordance with Islamic Tradition.
Led by Chief Imam Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, prayers were held for Alhaji Muniru and Murtala Mohammed, attended by President Mahama, Speaker Bagbin, and other officials, before their burial at the Accra military cemetery.
