The government of Ghana has disclosed its plan to hold the maiden national youth conference in the country during this year’s International Youth Day Celebration slated for August 12.
This will be in fulfillment of the statutory requirement of the National Youth Authority ACT, 2016 (ACT 939).
At a media launch of the 2022 International Youth Celebration in Accra on Tuesday, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority, Pius Enam Hadzide explained that this conference will afford the youth of the country the opportunity to interact with one another, exchange ideas and plan together towards national development.
He said “Government through the NYA and the Ministry of Youth and Sports will participate in this year’s global celebration of the youth in a remarkable manner. To that end, a series of activities have been put together and we are here today in the spirit of accountability and involvement to break communications on these activities as we perform this media launch,”
As part of the activities, the authority is expected to confer the Star of the Youth of Ghana Award on President Akufo-Addo due to this leadership and interventions which the authority believes create a conducive environment for the youth to thrive.
The celebration of the International Youth Day will be marked in Ghana from August 10 to August 12 at the Anagkazo Bible and Ministry Training Center – Akwapem Mampong on the theme: “Intergenerational Solidarity: Creating a World for all Ages’’
According to Pius Hadzide, the theme; “Intergenerational Solidarity: Creating a World for all Ages’’ will highlight the need to foster solidarity across generations in the pursuit of building the future we want and raises awareness of the barriers which hamper intergenerational solidarity and impede the creation of an age-inclusive world where no one is left behind.
