The National Executive Council (NEC) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has unitedly approved Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as the running mate for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the 2024 general elections.
The party emphasized that Dr. Opoku Prempeh meets all the criteria for the running mate position, resulting in his unanimous approval.
At the Alisa Hotel on July 4, NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong praised Dr. Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as Napo, as a proven achiever with qualities to strengthen the party’s ticket.
He highlighted Napo’s incorruptibility and bold views for the country’s collective good, adding that the party has confidence in Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s capabilities and integrity that will be instrumental in their campaign.
Born on May 23, 1968, in Kumasi, Napo hails from Pakyi No. 2 in the Ashanti Region and studied Human Biology and Medicine at KNUST. He completed his MB CHB in 1994, and pursued further studies in Clinical Epidemiology at the Netherlands Institute of Health Sciences, Leadership and Government at Harvard, and surgery training in the UK.
Before entering parliament, Napo was CEO of Keyedmap Security Services Limited and served as a member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of the UK.
