Residents of the Yamonransa Nkusukum Traditional Area in the Central Region are talking about a rare development.
This occurred after Davis Mac Iyalla, a well-known advocate for LGBT rights, was appointed Amankorehen, commonly known as development chief.
Mr. Iyalla, whose stool name is Nana Kwesi Gyasi I, was wheeled in a palanquin during his coronation over the weekend.
He was then carried through the streets on the shoulders of some locals from the traditional neighborhood.
However, as the palanquin collapsed, a video posted by Graphic Online depicts some carriers falling to the ground on the street.
The procession stopped and gathered around to help lift Nana Kwesi Gyasi I.

After the activity, he had some words for his detractors who suspects “were trying to stop me or throw me off the palanquin. But shame has come upon them.”
“Some people are racists. They are saying that ‘Omanhene is not Ghanaian so why are you making him chief?’ Those same people have made foreigners chiefs and benefitted from it. Clear hypocrisy and jealousy,” he said after the incident.
The Amankorehen is a chief who supports initiatives that hasten the area’s growth.
It is typically given to locals and visitors who have aided in the growth of a town.
Nana Okese Essandoh IX, the president of the Nkusukum Traditional Area, installed him.
Numerous traditional leaders from Cape Coast, Osu, Elmina, Mankessim, and Cape Coast attended the program.
