Chairman of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia has indicated that the party’s campaign launch on Saturday, July 27, 2024, in Tamale will be a modest one.
According to him, the party will not be complacent and go by their usual ways of jamboree campaigns characterised by mammoth rallies.
He said” On Saturday it will be a modest event just to signify that we have blown the whistle for various campaign activities to begin, we ate departing from our usual ways of placing emphasis on jamboree campaigns and so on”
The party’s flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, during the ‘Get Fit and Ready Mahama Walk’ event held in Accra on Saturday, July 20, 2024 announced that the upcoming campaign is set to traverse various regions across the country in preparation for the 2024 polls.
He therefore advised NDC followers and it branches across the country that “this year they are going to see a campaign which is different from what happened in the past”
Emphasizing the importance of a united effort during the campaign period to secure more votes, Mahama highlighted that campaign activities should involve all party members, beyond designated roles such as campaign managers and task forces at different levels.
Speaking in an interview on Metro TV, ahead of the launch, Mr. Asiedu Nketia said the party wants to reach out to people through house-to-house campaigning.
He added that the NDC would reach voters in their homes and explain its message of hope to the millions of Ghanaians seeking change.
According to him, “The message does not sink as deeply as engaging people in their homes, discussing their challenges and expectations about a new government that is coming, so that is where the emphasis is going to be.
“And then the training of preparedness to harvest the votes and convert them into electoral victory, that is where our emphasis is going to be.”
