The Asokore-Mampong District police have arrested a 26-year-old man for allegedly killing his fiancée in Parkoso, an Asokore-Mampong neighborhood in Kumasi.
Kwasi Bonsu, the suspect, allegedly told police that he murdered his lover, whose name has only been revealed as Samira, because she was cheating on him.
Confirming the incident, Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Godwin Ahianyo, stated that on Monday, around 12 noon, the police received information that the suspect had murdered his girlfriend and that her body was lying in front of a house in Parkoso Estate.
He said that police discovered the corpse of a lady in her twenties in a prone posture with cement blocks covering her head at the location.
He also said that the cops discovered that a portion of the skull had been bashed in. Again, there were assault marks on the body.
He said that the corpse had been sent to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital morgue for preservation, identification, and autopsy.
Prior to the suspect’s arrest, ASP Ahianyo said that if the police had not intervened in time, he would have been lynched by neighbors.
He said that the suspect, who was severely hurt as a result of the villagers’ brutal beatings, was taken to the Manhyia Government Hospital and treated before being discharged.
He is now being held in police custody to help with investigations.
