Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)John Dramani Mahama, has announced a new initiative to establish a Women’s Development Bank, aimed at supporting women-owned businesses and promoting gender equality in entrepreneurship.
At the launch of the National Youth Manifesto, Mr. Mahama urged young female entrepreneurs to take full advantage of the new bank, which he said will provide essential support for starting and growing small-scale businesses.
“The Women’s Development Bank will be instrumental in creating jobs and providing tailored financial services for women across the country, It is designed to ensure gender equality by offering funds and training to help young women start and expand their enterprises.” Mr. Mahama stated
He elaborated on the bank’s goals, explaining that it will address challenges faced by women-owned businesses in accessing credit and financial resources.
Mr. Mahama added that the bank will offer targeted financial products and support in areas such as food and beverage manufacturing, agro-processing, trading, and the marketing of local products.
“The Women’s Development Bank will focus on import substitution by financing local production, thus reducing the need for imports, We also aim to support young agribusinesses with equipment and capital to enhance the agro-processing sector and boost both domestic and export markets.” he said
Mr. Mahama expressed his enthusiasm for the presentations made by young people from various tertiary institutions, emphasizing his belief in the power of Ghanaian youth.
“I am excited by the potential of our youth, who are the future change-makers, I am committed to empowering them to shape a better tomorrow for our country. Dream big, aim high, and strive for greatness, your determination will drive the transformation our world needs.”
