Former President, John Mahama has described James Gyakye Quayson’s win in the just-ended by-election as a vote of justice.
To him, the people of Assin North have rejected the ‘non-performing NPP’
Taking to his Twitter page after the by-election, he thanked the electorate saying
“A big thank you, Assin North, for supporting James Gyakye Quayson and rejecting the non-performing NPP in today’s by-election. Your vote for Justice and Development is truly inspiring.”
Former President, John Mahama further urged the people of Assin North to “keep working together to build the Ghana we all dream of.”
Mr. James Gyakye Quayson who is returning to parliament polled 17, 243 out of the 30, 418 total valid votes representing 57.56%.
His main contender, Charles Opoku of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) managed to secure 12,630 votes representing 42.15% of the valid votes cast while the candidate for the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Bernice Enyonam Sefenu polled 87 votes also representing 0.29%.
Per the Electoral Commission’s certified results, the total votes cast stood at 30, 418, while the total valid votes cast was 29,962 and rejected votes were 456.
