Ngozi Ezeonu, a veteran Nollywood actress, has denied rumors that she has passed away.
Days prior, the actress shared a picture of a lit candle on her Instagram profile along with the words, “a rare gem is gone.”
Fans were alarmed by this tweet, as some speculated about what might have happened and others said it was an announcement of her death.
Ngozi Ezeonu addressed the issue in a video posted on social media, lamenting the many calls she received when certain blogs broke the story.

The actress became enraged after a social media post she wrote lamenting the death of a loved one was mistaken for her passing.
“I lost a very close friend of mine; I posted a candle, a half-burnt candle, and they now put my picture on that candle, and everybody is saying that I died. Some people even went to the extent of saying that it was my son who posted my death,” Ngozi Ezeonu explained.
The seasoned actress, clearly enraged, attacked several bloggers for disseminating erroneous information and exploiting her fame for exposure.
“It is wrong. It is not everything you play with. In journalism, what you do when in doubt is you leave out. If you cannot get across to the person to at least confirm the story, you don’t post.”
The seasoned actress urged her supporters to ignore the false allegations and reassured her admirers that she is still alive and well.
She forewarned the blogs:”Don’t try it again. This is a new year; why would anybody want to hurt each other just because they want people to follow them?”
