The Central Regional Police Command is investigating the murder of a 39-year-old woman at the Breman Asikuma in the Central Region.
The deceased known as Adiza Ibrahim is said to have been stabbed to death by her husband, Kwesi Kumi alias one stone over a misunderstanding between the two.
The Asikuma police indicate they received information at 8:00 pm on 6th July 2021 that Adiza Ibrahim had been stabbed at her residence at the H/No. Unmarked, Mbra Street of Breman Asikuma.
The police proceeded to the scene at Mbraa Street and found the lifeless body of the deceased in a supine position in a pool of blood. The body was carefully inspected and a big cut was found on her chest with a kitchen knife deep down the wound.
Information gathered indicates that there was a misunderstanding between the deceased and her husband, suspect Kwesi Kumi who locked the door and bolted after committing the act.
On the same day, the police at Ekumfi Otuam had information about a man lying unconscious by the roadside at Ekumfi Otuam and suspected to have taken poison. The police rescued him and sent him to Apam Government hospital for treatment.
The police probed further when the suspect regained consciousness and later, the suspect confessed he had committed the crime at Asikuma. The Asikuma police was then contacted and they confirmed that a case of the murder of Adiza Ibrahim who is the wife of the suspect has been reported.
The Suspect is currently under armed guard at the hospital receiving treatment with efforts being made to bring him to Asikuma for further investigation.
The body of the deceased has also been deposited at the lady of grace hospital for autopsy.
Central Regional Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Irene Serwaa Oppong who gave details of this incident seized the opportunity to advise the general public to channel their grievances to the right sources for amicable solutions to their problems.
She said that the domestic violence and victims support unit (DOVVSU), the counseling center at the police unit, and legal aid are all avenues available to handle household misunderstandings.
She, therefore, urged all and sundry not to put the law into their own hands to commit any crime.
