According to the Western and Central Region Communications Director for the company, Nana Yaw Barima Barnie, the Ghana water company in recent times has been experiencing heightened cases of robbery of their meters and other equipment which is costing the company millions.
“People steal GWCL meters, and they steal our metal slabs on some of our valve chambers,” he said.
He indicated that stringent measures such as court summons have been introduced by the GCWL to help curb such occurrences.

Nana Yaw Barima Barnie indicated that after waiting in court for about two hours, the CID officer investigating the case informed that court that the suspect, Samuel Mensah had informed the wife that he was on his way to the court for the case to be heard but did not show up
He said it was based on the absence of the culprit that the case was adjourned for the CID Officer to find and bring him to court for prosecution.
The Communications Director also appealed to the general public to report activities of people found stealing equipment belonging to the company.
Meanwhile, the Court has ordered that the persons who stood surety for Samuel Mensah be pursued to produce him to court on the adjourned date.
