The Ghana Tuna Association has petitioned parliament over the nomination of Mavis Hawa Koomson as minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development.
In a letter addressed to the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, on Friday, February 19, 2021, the association noted that the nominee’s “basic skills set, biases and passions may not fit into the challenges the fishing sector is currently facing and other expectations from the minister of the sector”.

In this regard, the association is calling for certain key considerations which must inform policy direction in the sector.
