The Chief of Kakumdo and Gyasehene of Oguaa Traditional Area, Nana Ebu IV in collaboration with the Festive Kids International, ahead of the 2022 Basic Education Certificate Examination, has held a free aptitude test for final-year pupils in the area.
The test, which was initiated for both public and private schools in the area aimed at evaluating the students’ academic ability so that they can identify their areas of academic strengths and weakness and improve on those areas before taking their examinations.
Speaking to ATL FM NEWS, the founder of the Festive Kids International Foundation, Mr. Prince Messiah Yeboah Hayford, indicated that the exercise has been running for 3 years and that the test was necessary because recent failures in the BECE was as a result of the pupils’ inability to properly respond to questions.

“We have realized that pupils fail their examination not because they don’t know the questions that appear in B.E.C.E but the skills involved in answering questions and how to meet the standard required by examiners is what constitute their main problem so there is a need for us to come in with an educational integrated system that will be able to help the children perform very well,” he said.
Mr. Yeboah Hayford further indicated that stakeholders in education in the community found that education or examination is the main determinant of the future prospect of all or children and when they fail their exam, it is very bitter and deters them form moving forward.
He noted that the aptitude test was in integrated Science, Mathematics, English, Social Studies, RME and then ICT.
He, therefore stressed that the test would help students sharpen their exam-writing skills.
Mr. Yeboah Hayford also hinted of plans for the expansion of the test to other areas in the metropolis and urged the public and other philanthropic organizations to support this worthy course.
