The Executive Chief Director of the Dora Edu-Buandoh Foundation, Prof. Dora Edu-Buandoh has stressed the need to empower women to reach policy-making levels through education.
To her, most young women lack confidence and this prevents them from reaching a higher pedestal in the corporate world.
She is of the view that women should be empowered since women are still not found at the policy-making table.
“So the seminars that we are running now is to help the young women in tertiary institutions to develop that confidence in themselves, to get the knowledge they need to build their social skills, to build skills that will take them far when they get to work so that we’ll have a lot more women up there in our contemporary world” she continued.
Prof. Edu-Buandoh was speaking in an exclusive interview with ATL FM NEWS at a Young People’s Seminar organized by the Dora Edu-Buandoh Foundation for Ladies in levels 300 and 400 of the University of Cape Coast.
She advised that education should be the priority of every young woman since it is the only way to climb the ladder of success in this contemporary world.
She added that it is important for women to also have a good attitude and respect for everyone.
“Have learned a lot from people who have worked under me. So if you are focused, you get educated and you respect all people, by the grace of God, you may even go beyond my status. So, I encourage young women, especially those in the central region, to take that bold step. They should be confident and they will get there”
Meanwhile, the Head of Strategic Business Processing Africa (SBPG), Mr. Atoni Akugiri Lamisi urged students to train themselves as solution-givers even as they receive education at the tertiary level.
This, he says will make them useful in every organization they will be employed at.
Speaking on the theme, “build yourself to fit into the organizational structures of corporate institutions”, Mr. Lamisi advised that, it is important to be self-prepared for the corporate world as an individual through effective training and attainment of all necessary skills needed to soar higher in order to be relevant in any organization.
“Students are trained or educated to give solutions. And in all this, if you’re a student and you know that you are trained to give solutions out there, I think that your focus will change from just training as a student or your lecturing process as a student, but rather self-prepare yourself for the corporate world out there “he said.
The Dora Edu-Buandoh Foundation is a registered private non-profit organization with the mission of supporting and inspiring underprivileged female students in higher education from mainly the Central Region of Ghana.
