Discord is working on a native version of its communications app for Windows on Arm, with an early Arm64 development build now available for testers. A spokesperson, Claudia Fellerman, confirmed to The Verge that while the project is in its early stages, a full release for compatible Arm-powered devices is forthcoming.
Currently, users can install Discord on Qualcomm-powered Copilot Plus devices, but the emulated experience often suffers from freezing and slow loading times for chat history and channels. Users also have the option of unofficial native Discord clients for Windows on Arm. Recently, I tested an early version of Discord compiled for Windows on Arm and found it performs similarly to the Intel version, with no lag and significantly improved performance.
Once officially launched, Discord will join numerous apps already optimized for the latest Qualcomm-powered Copilot Plus PCs. While emulation can work well for lightweight applications, native versions are essential for demanding apps like Discord and Premiere Pro to ensure optimal performance.

As of now, the Windows on Arm app tracking site lists 731 applications, with nearly 42 percent being native Arm64. Less than 10 percent of these apps are unsupported on Windows on Arm, while around 31 percent rely on Microsoft’s Prism emulator. Microsoft has successfully encouraged many developers to create native Arm64 apps, including popular programs like Chrome, Dropbox, Zoom, and Photoshop.
