The Director of the Centre for Gender Research, Advocacy and Documentation at the University of Cape Coast, Prof Eunice Fay Amissah has stressed the need to provide digital training for teenage girls.
She notes that advancement in digital technology and how it is influencing the nature of jobs and businesses requires that teenagers are equipped with digital skills.
To her, that will ensure teenage girls can make career choices relevant in the Digital Age.
“We all know that…now things have changed and things continue to change. Jobs that were in the past the interest of many, moving forward those jobs are not relevant as they were at first because of digitalization.”
So, what jobs can these teenagers do in the future,” She questioned.
Meanwhile, speaking to ATL FM NEWS at a symposium held for some adolescent girls including boys, she urged adolescent girls not to let low self-esteem and their present circumstances shape what they desire to do in life.
Prof Mrs. Fay Amissah believes girls are endowed with huge potential that can help them achieve success in life.
She said success will come if girls look beyond any unfavourable circumstances they may find themselves in, dream big and work towards achieving the dream.
The symposium held on the theme “Digital Generation, Our Generation,” formed part of activities held by CEGRAD UCC to mark this year’s International Day of the Girl Child, a celebration slated for every October 11.
The participants were gathered from Amamoma Imam Khomeini Junior High School and some Basic and primary schools from Gomoa Central District.
Also in attendance were the teachers of the aforementioned schools.
