Deputy Central Regional Police Commander, DCOP Kwadwo Antwi Tabi says his outfit is ready to ensure maximum security in the Cape Coast Metropolis during the 65th Independence Celebration.
Among the numerous activities slated to be preparatory events ahead of the main celebration on Sunday, the Security Services, on Thursday, March 3, 2022, marched through the principal streets of Cape Coast portraying their readiness ahead of the celebration.
The exercise which commenced from the Jubilee Park in Cape Coast and ended at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium brought together all the security service personnel including the Military, Air force, the Navy, police, prisons, fire services among others.
Addressing the Media, the deputy Central Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Kwadwo Antwi Tabi mentioned they will ensure an absolute sense of security.
The regional police command is currently having re-enforcement from the Police Headquarters in Accra in a bid to ensure the complete security of the metropolis during the event.
According to DCOP Antwi Tabi, “the roads are going to be secured with MTTD Men who are going to be deployed along these routes. We also have men on day and night patrols, and this time it is rather going to be intensified.”
He notes that the police personnel have already been briefed and will be poised in dealing with anyone who flaunts the laws.
“We have already briefed our men to ensure that they are not going to watch the parade but to look out for criminals and people who would want to cause disorderliness, would want to cause break into vehicles and also pick-pockets. We are alert and vigilant and will arrest anyone who makes this attempt and such a person will not have it easy at all.” He emphasized.
The police said some major roads leading to the Cape Coast Stadium where the 65th Independence Celebration will be held will be blocked. However, alternative routes will be communicated in due course for drivers to follow suit.
