A team of Police Officers from the Central Regional Police Command with assistance from the Kasoa Divisional Police Command has arrested 340 suspected criminals including 5 females at various communities within the Kasoa enclave.
The arrest is part of the Police Administration’s resolve to stem the crime rate in the area
The suspects who are mostly Nigerians have been sent to the Kasoa Divisional Police Command for screening.
The Central Regional Police Commander DCOP Habiba Twumasi Sarpong briefing the Press Briefing after the exercise indicated that the police embarked on the special operation dubbed “operation storm Kasoa” to clamp down the rampant criminal activities in the Kasoa Municipality and its environs.
“The team went to Buduburam, Kasoa CP, Adade, Akweley and Ofaakor and arrested the suspects most of them Nigerians. 9 out of the suspects were found in possession of substance suspected to be Indian hemp. A total of 245 laptops, 142 assorted mobile phones and 6 Nigerian passports were retrieved during the operation” she said.
She further added that the suspects will be screened and those found culpable will be arraigned before court”.
DCOP Twumasi-Sarpong urged the general public to assist the police with information that will help arrest persons engaged in criminal activities in the various communities.
“The command is once again reminding the general public that their corporation is much needed adding that they should share information with the police” she reiterated.
DCOP Twumasi-Sarpong also cautioned criminals on their resolve to arrest them and assured the general public efficient security in the region.
