The Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly (CCMA), led by the Mayor of Cape Coast, Hon. George Justice Arthur, yesterday paid a courtesy call on the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang.
The delegation, which included the Member of Parliament for Cape Coast North, Hon. Dr. Kwamina Minta Nyarku, and the Member of Parliament for Cape Coast South, Hon. George Kweku Ricketts-Hagan, extended New Year greetings to the Vice President and expressed optimism for renewed strength and clarity as the nation continues its reset agenda.
During the visit, the Assembly presented an eight (8)-year development plan for the Cape Coast Metropolis. Key highlights of the plan include the refurbishment and eventual operationalization of the Prof. John Evans Atta Mills Library, as well as the rehabilitation of the Cape Coast Metropolitan Hospital.
Discussions with the Vice President and her team focused on strategic government support to make Cape Coast more vibrant and economically viable, alongside the role of local fundraising initiatives in complementing development efforts.
H.E. Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang commended the Assembly for its vision and urged it to actively involve the people of Cape Coast in decision-making processes to foster ownership and collective commitment to development.
She further emphasized that while advancing the growth of Cape Coast is important, it must be pursued within the broader context of national development.
