The Central Regional Police Intelligence Unit (PID) is in charge of thirty-year-old Nana Kofi Amofa, also known as Kofi Yesu, who tried to sell his six-year-old niece for GH¢150,000 in order to obtain a visa to Canada.
On Tuesday, July 23, in Gomoa Buduburam, close to Obolo Estate, at approximately 1000 hours, the suspect was taken into custody.
According to information obtained by the police, the suspect had stated that he wanted to sell the minor (name withheld) in order to collect visa money for his trip to Canada.
Police sent out officers to act as purchasers as a result, and during negotiations, the culprit demanded GH¢150,000 from the undercover agent, who promptly arrested him.

The suspect acknowledged that the victim was the daughter of his older brother, Mr Kwadwo Brako, who lived in Nyamebekyere, a community near Akyem Ayirebi in the Ofoase Ayirebi Constituency in Eastern Region.
Further interrogation showed that the suspect had persuaded the girl’s parents to let her stay with him on the premise of providing her with a better education.
The Kasoa DOVVSU is conducting more investigations into the case.
