The Central Regional branch of the Ghana National Canoe Fishermen Council (GNCFC) has charged the newly sworn-in chief fisherman for Moree Alata fishing community, Nana Kobena Nkrumah to practice servant leadership as he discharges his duty.
Chosen by the Omanhene and people of Asebu Traditional Area, Nana Kobena Nkrumah was sworn in at the Anomabo Atiwa beach into the council where he will be contributing his expertise to help ensure that the livelihood of fishers at Moree Alata and in the region as a whole is well managed.
Adding up to the charge, the Chairperson of the Council who doubles as the chief fisherman for Gomoa Fetteh fishing community, Nana Obrenu Dabum III, admonished the new chief fisherman to serve with integrity and humility.
According to him, “as the chief fisherman, he should always exercise patience when an issue arises and try to resolve it using the appropriate means.”
On his part, Nana Kobena Nkrumah indicated that he will work hard to meet the expectations of the council.
“I will do my best to work hand in hand with the leaders of this noble association to make decisions that will bring progress to the fishing community here in the Central Region,” he said.
He also indicated that he will consistently involve his subjects when making decisions concerning the fishing business.
While lamenting the challenges facing fishermen in the region, he called on the government to increase the premix fuel it allocates to them.
