The Head of the office of the Local Government Service of Ghana, Ing. Dr. Nana Ato Arthur has commissioned a fully equipped Community-Based Health Planning and Service Center (CHPS) and a Mechanized borehole at Abrem Berase in the K.E.E.A Municipality in the Central Region.
The CHPS Compound which consists of an OPD, Labour Ward, Delivery room, Consulting room, and a residential facility among others is funded by the Government of Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGHSP).
In an address at the commissioning ceremony on Monday, September 12, 2022, Ing. Dr. Nana Ato Arthur said the project has come in timely to help the people of Abrem-Berase and its environs have access to quality healthcare delivery and to reduce the maternal healthcare challenges in the area.
He further implored both the people of Abrem Berase and the Health professionals who will manage the facility to work together to help achieve the intended purpose for which the facility has been established.
On his part, the Ambassador of Japan to Ghana, H.E Mr. Mochizuki Hisanobu indicated that the Eighty-three thousand, one hundred- and five dollars ($ 83,105) Health facility forms part of the Japanese government’s initiative through the GGHSP scheme in expanding access to primary healthcare aimed at promoting the concept of human security in Ghana.
Japan has been implementing projects through the GGHSP scheme focusing on promoting the concept of human security aimed at building a world where everyone can live in dignity, free from fear and want, through the protection and empowerment of individuals.
In that regard, H.E Mr. Mochizuki Hisanobu indicated that since health is a critical component of human security, the government of Japan through the GGHSP scheme has always been active in expanding access to primary health care in Ghana.
“We have done this through facility development, donation of medical equipment, and capacity building for many years.” He continued.
He expressed confidence that the staff and the entire community will ensure maximum use of the facility and sustain it “with proper maintenance for generations ahead.”
The Ankobeahen of Abrem Traditional area and Acting chief of Abrem Berase, Nana Brakwa III expressed satisfaction over the project.
He showed appreciation to the Ambassador of Japan to Ghana and all those who have contributed in diverse to see the completion of the project.
Nana Brakwa III, however, appealed for an Ambulance Van to be provided to the clinic for emergencies in the area.
