Concerned Drivers Association of Ghana (C-DAG) is asking Ghanaians to prepare for upward adjustment of transport fares in the country effective Monday, January 17, 2021.
In a statement, the association said they are left with no other option but to adjust the fares upward by 40% in order to keep it, members, in business.
“We hereby communicate to Ghanaians to prepare for an upward adjustment of transport fares in the country with effect from Monday, January 17, 2022.” Part of the statement said”
According to them, their resolve has largely been inspired by the consistent upward increment in prices of fuel commodities at the pumps of the various oil marketing companies, increment in prices of vehicles, and increment in spare parts and lubricants.
To them, though the upward adjustment of the 40% increment in transport fares cannot bring ultimate comfort, it can only ameliorate the current unbearable hardships drivers are faced with.
The Association said the association and its members commiserate with Ghanaians on the country’s economic hardships however, it is important for Ghanaians to comply when the increment takes effect.
They further urged Ghanaians to desist from fighting drivers and their conductors when the new fares are implemented.
