Under the leadership of the Acting President, Nana Oduro Akenten II, and the chief mourners, the Denkyira Traditional Council rescheduled Denkyirahene’s royal burial rite, Odeefuo Boa Amponsem III.
The burial was originally reported to take place at Jukwa in the Central Region from 21 February to 17 April this week.
A declaration announcing the development attributed the delay to some of the constraints imposed by President Nana Akufo-Addo in his last address to COVID-19.
“A section read: “The situation regarding the COVID-19 pandemic correctly addressed to the country by the President in his 21st address reiterated the dire challenge to the public gathering. A funeral and burial ban was imposed on 25 people, which means that we will not comply with the funeral schedule as announced.

“The people of Denkyira are told that other arrangements are going on for the Great King’s burial rites, Odeefuo Boa Amponsem III, and the Funeral Committee is feverishly adding the final touches to the funeral.”
Consequently, the prohibition of the making of noise in Denkyiraman and the execution of the funeral rites levied by the Traditional Council of Denkyira were revoked by the same authority.
People are therefore allowed, but under the supervision of national regulations, to go about their daily activities at Denkyira.
There is still a new date to be set and announced.
The chief even served as the president of the National House of Chiefs until his death five years ago.
