Four years after being shot by a friend, doctors have failed to extract a bullet from the belly of Emmanuel Badu-Acheampong, a Takoradi-based businessman.
On February 27, 2018, the victim, commonly known as Capo, was allegedly shot in the abdomen after a fight with Michael Nunoo, who happens to be his closest buddy.
The dispute was about a GHS30,000 debt due by Michael Nunoo to Emmanuel Badu-Acheampong for over a year.
Mr. Badu-Acheampong was shot in the abdomen at the Mayspot Restaurant in Fijai, Takoradi, and was taken to the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital before being transferred to Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra for a cesarean operation.
Doctors, however, were unable to remove the bullet since it was lodged in a particularly delicate area of the abdomen.
The doctors went on to say that any effort to forcefully remove the bullet might paralyze him.
Meanwhile, a Sekondi High Court has set Monday, July 19, 2021, as the date for the administration of justice in the case between the Republic and the accused, Michael Nunoo, a marine engineer at the Maritime Authority at Takoradi Port who is on trial for attempted murder and unlawful possession of arms.
After hearing from counsel for the complainant, Mrs. Adelaide Kobiri-Woode, a state attorney, and counsel for the accused, Joseph K. Abakah, the Presiding Judge, Mrs. Afia Nyarko Adu Amankwa, postponed the criminal matter until Monday, July 19, 2021, for decision.
After hearing from both parties in the case, the judge admonished a seven-member jury to be very judicious in their decision.
