Vice President, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia has commissioned a GHC300,000 ultra-modern Intranet Digital Repository for Wesley Girls’ High School in Cape Coast.
The facility will serve as a centralized hub for accessing a wealth of educational resources, and administrative documents, and fostering seamless communication within the school community.
The innovative platform promises to revolutionize the school’s digital landscape, offering management, teachers, staff and students a seamless and comprehensive hub for educational resources, collaboration, and communication.
The commissioning of the digital repository marks a significant milestone in Wesley Girls’ Senior High School’s commitment to embracing technology to enhance accessibility.
Headmistress of the school, Mrs. Jeannette Ruby Siameh expressed enthusiasm about the transformative potential of the digital repository, stating, “This is a great legacy the vice president is giving to the school.”
She indicated that Intranet Digital Repository represents a pivotal moment in the school’s journey towards harnessing the power of technology.
Speaking on behalf of the school, Mrs. Jeannette Ruby Siameh pledged to put the repository into good use and reap its fullest benefits to turn around the face of record-keeping in the school.”
However, she used the occasion to appeal for some pressing needs of the school.
According to her, Two GETFUND projects have still not been completed since 2008 and 2019 respectively and these include a new assembly hall and the six-unit two-bedroom staff flat.
“We need an astroturf road network in the school. We need a school bus and a pickup. I thank you in advance that through your instrumentality the above-mentioned needs would be duly met in no time,” she continued.
on his part, Vice President Dr. Bawumia stated that the digital repository of such nature will facilitate the ready retrieval of important records of the school, staff and students.
He maintained that the repository will help students retrieve their transcripts in record time to enable them to meet tight deadlines for applications to pursue academic or other professional advancement.
“I can assure you that the immense benefit of having information and records digitalized will unfold with time as the school puts this project into full use. I am hopeful that in addition to academic and other records, the capacity of this repository will be expanded to hold historic documents.
As we launch this digital repository here today, it is my prayer that the same is done at all schools, transforming data from paper form to digital platforms and applying other digital compliance systems improves efficiency and makes life easier and better.”
The Vice President noted that this is one of the reasons the government is aggressively pursuing a digitalization drive to bring major benefits to the country in terms of efficiency and reducing corruption.
Dr. Bawumia also hinted that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will next month launch the one-table one-student initiative adding that the tablets will have solar capacitiesin areas where electricity is hindered.
“And the distribution of the laptops, the tablets, to all the students will start from next month. And so, we will be seeing a major transformation happening in our senior high schools,” he continued.
