Private legal practitioner, Mr Kwame Jantuah has called for the laws on asset declaration to be changed to ensure transparency and accountability.
According to him, asset declaration should no longer be made in secrecy.
His call comes in the wake of the purported will of the late Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, popularly known as Sir John widely shared on social media.
On May 23, it emerged that the will of Sir John contained some parcels of land at the Achimota Forest Reserve and the Sakumono Ramsar site.
The will, which was made public by The Fourth Estate, contains four parcels of specified and unspecified acres of land in the Achimota Forest, which the late politician bequeathed to named persons.

There is renewed calls for public office holders to declare their assets and Mr. Juantuah noted that people have the right to know what a public officer has before taking a position and had after leaving office.
“I think the asserts declaration should be done in such a way that it is not put in secrecy. It should be exposed for the general public to see because you have been put in public service position and if you have been put in public service position the people have the right to know what you have before you came and what you have after you’ve left. So, it is something that we should look at,” he emphasized.
