Amorim’s Man Utd Rebuild Under Review
Ruben Amorim’s effort to rebuild Manchester United isn’t going so well. He took over for Erik ten Hag, hoping to revive a team that’s been struggling. Since he arrived in late November, he’s only won four out of 13 Premier League games. The latest loss was a 2-0 defeat at home to Crystal Palace. This was his fifth home loss in just seven matches. That’s the worst record for any Manchester United manager in the Premier League.

With these poor results, United is now sitting in 13th place. They’ve managed eight wins but have 11 losses this season. People are starting to wonder if Amorim can really get the team back on track.
Amorim Under Pressure
European football expert Phil Kitromilides talked about this on The Optus Sport Football Podcast. He thinks that despite all the struggles, the club needs to stick with Amorim. He calls this season a write-off for Manchester United. Kitromilides believes even if the team was close to relegation, which he doubts will happen, they should give Amorim more time. “They have to give him time,” he said, stressing that Amorim needs a full pre-season and the players he wants for his plans.
But there are worries about how much money Amorim will have to work with. Mark Schwarzer, a former goalkeeper, is unsure how much Amorim can spend on players to fit his style. The team’s new owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, has made budget cuts that fans aren’t happy about. This may make it hard for the club to buy the right players this summer.
Money Troubles and Team Changes
Schwarzer pointed out that because of the tight budget, Amorim might have to sell some players before he can buy new ones. Manchester United’s name can drive up transfer prices, making it tough to get the players he needs. “They’re not going to be able to bring in the players that they want,” Schwarzer said, pointing out the difficulty of attracting top talent without enough money.
Rebuilding the squad will take time. Schwarzer believes Amorim will need several transfer windows to get the right team together. He mentioned that many players on the current team don’t fit into Amorim’s plan, which could also slow down progress.
Beginning to Change the Squad
The changes have started. The club has signed young fullback Patrick Dorgu from Lecce in Serie A. Plus, the ongoing situation with Marcus Rashford has ended. He has left on loan to Aston Villa.
Former Premier League striker Jay Bothroyd thinks this move is good for everyone. He believes it was time for Rashford to go since things weren’t working out with Manchester United. “That is a great move for him, and it’s a great move for Man United because they got him off the books,” Bothroyd said. He expects Rashford will be eager to prove himself at Villa. This move also helps Aston Villa, giving them a solid left-wing option with Rashford supported by players like Lucas Digne.
In short, Amorim has a tough job ahead at Manchester United. He needs time to succeed, but money issues and a team that needs changes could make things even harder. It’s unclear how long it will take for him to turn the club into a competitive team again.
