Rose Amoanimaa Yeboah, a standout athlete from the University of Cape Coast (UCC), has been granted a prestigious opportunity to compete on the global stage at the upcoming World Athletics Championship in Budapest.
This announcement comes hot on the heels of her exhilarating gold medal victory at the World University Games in the high jump event, where she achieved a national record of 1.94 meters.
The University of Cape Coast level 300 student, who previously won the gold medal at the 2018 African Senior Athletics Championships in Mauritius, as well as a gold medal at the 2019 African Games in Rabat, Morocco, and broke the previous national record set by Abigail Kwarteng, standing at 1.92 meters in 2022, will represent Ghana in the women’s high jump competition in Budapest.
In an interview with ATLFM SPORTS, Rose disclosed that the 2023 World Athletics Championship management team had called her to let her know she had qualified for this year’s competition after clearing 1.90 metres during the University of Cape Coast Inter Hall Games which took place in early July before she attended the World University Games to set the new 1.94 record.
The 2023 World Athletics Championship is scheduled to be held from 19th to 27th August 2023 at the National Athletics Centre, in Budapest, Hungary.
