A police autopsy report revealed that 32-year-old Shadrach Arloo, the main suspect in the West Hills killing investigation, died of asphyxiation and obstruction of his throat by a foreign body.
The dead had really consumed what the police assumed to be marijuana, according to the autopsy report.
Eight zipped packets of dry leaves linked with a piece of black polythene and potentially drug-related were discovered by the police pathologist in the deceased’s throat.
The retrieved suspected narcotic drug was identified as cannabis after being subjected to forensic testing in front of all parties concerned.
According to a statement from the Ghana Police Service informing the public on its investigation, the Attorney General’s office is being consulted to determine the next step for the police in light of the outcomes of the post-mortem examination.
“We would like to put on record that from the very beginning of this incident, the Police have involved all interested parties in the investigation process. It is therefore a matter of regret and great dismay, and we dare say un-Ghanaian that people who had all the information on the matter, would behave as though they had no idea of actions that were being taken by the police in respect of the case.”

It continued, “we would like to urge the general public to exercise restraint and patience with matters that are under police investigation in order not to worsen the pain of those who are directly affected by such incidents.”
The family of the deceased has already brought legal action against the Ghana Police Service, West Hills Mall, and even onlookers who recorded the altercation that resulted in his death.
Francis-Xavier Sosu, the defendant’s attorney, maintains that the police officers’ actions led to the death of the 32-year-old, which prompted the action.
According to eyewitnesses and mall security, the police officer sought to inspect the deceased’s bag because he thought he might be in possession of illegal narcotics.
The altercation allegedly started when the suspect took something from his luggage and consumed it. The mall’s cameras captured the initial fight the officer experienced while attempting to arrest the man.
The suspect eventually gave up and started acting sick.
He was brought to the on-site hospital, where he was later declared dead.
Residents of Jomoro and the member of parliament for that district, Dorcas Afo Toffey, have petitioned George Akuffo Dampare, the inspector general of police, regarding Shadrach Arloo’s passing.
