The Office of International Relations (OIR) at the University of Cape Coast is urging students to take advantage of the numerous study abroad opportunities available to them whilst in the university.
OIR believes enrolling in such programs is crucial for the student’s academic and social development.
According to the Principal programme Assistant in charge of Inbound & Outbound Student Exchanges, Mr. Isaac Fiifi Eshun, the study abroad programs provide endless opportunities including the chance to build networks as well as helping students gain a better understanding of the world while earning credits towards their degrees.
He also said “If you study abroad, imagine going for a job opportunity and on your CV, you have references from not just lecturers in UCC but lecturers from other universities. Compared to your peers, you will be given a higher chance of getting that job”
Mr. Eshun was speaking to ATLFM NEWS on the sidelines of a day’s Study Abroad fair organized by OIR.
The study abroad fair is part of OIR’s efforts to sensitize students about the opportunities existing for them to study abroad.
He hinted that UCC has partnerships with over 70 institutions across the globe where students can go for exchange programmes.
To that end, he urged the students saying“I know most of you may not know what we do. So if you have the time stop by and learn about study abroad opportunities that are available because the opportunities are available.”
Some beneficiaries of the program shared the amazing benefits they have derived from the program.
One student who completed UCC in 2021 said “I heard of the study abroad opportunity from a friend and in 2022 I went on an exchange programme at the Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg in Germany. Studying in Bonn was fun because I was able to learn the German culture, interact and make new friends from other cultures. So I’ll recommend that every student goes on an exchange program because it built my academic capacity”
A level 200 student also said “l will be going to Bucknell University, Lewisburg Pennslyvania thanks to the exchange program I enrolled in. The process was stress-free.”
