As of the 12th day of enumeration, the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) reported that data on 80 percent of the anticipated households designated for the 2021 Population and Housing Census had been received.
It also said that as of Sunday, July 11, 181 of the 272 statistical districts were on track to complete data collection for the 2021 Population and Housing Census.
These were revealed during a news conference held by the Government Statistician, Professor Samuel Kobina Annim, on Sunday, when the two-week exercise was set to conclude.
He said that completion rates in certain areas would have to be continued.
“An initial mop-up period of 12th to 18th July has been scheduled to complete the work in the outstanding enumeration areas,” he announced.
The drill started on the evening of Sunday, June 27.
So far, data collection has exceeded 80% in 12 of the 16 regions.
However, with 55 percent of the work completed, the Greater Accra Region will continue the process in ten districts.
Ga West, Ga North, Ayawaso West, Adentan, Ga East, and Ledzokuku are the districts.
La-NKwantanang Madina, Kpone Katamanso, Shaid Osudoku, and Tema West round out the list.
Prof Annim said that in supervision regions where work has been finished, field closing operations have already started.
He encouraged people who are reluctant to engage in the exercise to do so by collaborating with enumerators.
